In 2001, a group of Riverdale residents joined together to embark on a sacred journey to create a new type of synagogue. Their vision was to reach across denominational lines and build a spiritual, music-filled, socially-conscious synagogue founded on the principles of a love for Jewish life, a passion for social justice, meaningful prayer, and Torah study that is probing and relevant. Since its inception, Tehillah has quickly grown from a number of small gatherings in congregants' homes to a full-fledged synagogue holding regular Shabbat services and a full program of holiday services and events. Through music, celebration and the embracing of multiple approaches to Jewish life and identity, Tehillah has attracted, enriched, and inspired hundreds of people in our community.
