![]() Shabbat Services At Tehillah, we celebrate Shabbat through song and through silence. At 6:30 p.m. on Friday evenings and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday mornings, we gather together as a holy community to pray, reflect and meditate. Our services are informal; there is no dress code. But, each worshipper is expected to bring his/her soul ready to be explored and expressed. Services are conducted primarily in our holy tongue, Hebrew. Yet, our siddur (prayerbook) is filled with complete translations and transliterations of the Hebrew prayers. Rabbi Shoshana Leis leads the services in such a way that each person knows the proper page and the meaning of each prayer. On Saturday morning, our prayer reaches its climax at the Torah service where the Torah portion of the week is read. In addition, Rabbi Shoshana leads a participatory and lively discussion on a particular issue of interest in the weekly portion. Come join us for a service. We believe that you will be inspired.
For those of you attending Shabbat services who are not completely comfortable reading the Hebrew and still want to join in the singing and chanting, you will find transliteration throughout the prayerbook. Unless otherwise noted, services take place at the Ethical Culture Society, 4450 Fieldston Road (at Manhattan College Parkway), Riverdale, NY. Please bring at least 2 friends new to Tehillah services every time we meet. It is one of the greatest ways to contribute to Tehillah's growth. |
