El Paso

In the aftermath of the horrific shooting in El Paso, Texas last Saturday, one local synagogue is helping to collect donations to support the victims' families and those who were injured. Temple Mount Sinai started a Tikkun Olam Fund a couple of years ago with the intention of gathering donations so that larger gifts can be given on behalf of the entire Jewish community. Per Rabbi Ben Zeidman: "This says to those in need: 'The Jewish people are here for you.' It also eases the burden for individual givers who may be left trying to evaluate individual charities from being taken advantage of (we are expecting scammers to take advantage of people’s generosity as they have in the aftermath of other similar events). Whether or not you are able to help the community financially, your thoughts and prayers have been well received. It’s what we need."

Contributions large and small are welcome. Simply mail a check to Temple Mount Sinai with “Tikkun Olam – Shooting” in the memo line. Or go to templemountsinai.com/donate. Scroll down to “Special Funds for Ongoing Support” and “Tikkun Olam Fund” is the first option. Put “Shooting” either in the tribute or the notes.
