Covid Mitzvah

The first case of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was diagnosed in California this week, taking the pandemic to a new level in the U.S. With that in mind, the mitzvah this week is WASH YOUR HANDS. Research shows that proper hand-washing technique substantially lowers the risk of transmission of disease.

The NYC Department of Education recently sent out an email with a useful list of to-do's to avoid contracting or transmitting the flu:

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or sleeve. If you use a tissue, dispose of it carefully.
  • Wash your hands regularly
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Get your flu shot—it’s never too late
  • Stay home if you’re feeling sick

In this precarious time, take care of yourself and give thought to others.
